Diese Abenteuerexpedition der besonderen Art führt uns von Coca in Ecuador im Kanu und Expeditionsboot abseits jeglicher Zivilisation durch die Dschungelgebiete der Nationalparks Yasuni und Cuyabeno und die Stammesgebiete der Kichwa und Secoya Indios bis nach Iquitos in Peru.

Das Spannendste an dieser Expedition ist, dass es keinen genauen Ablauf der Reise gibt, da es sich um eine Pionierreise handelt, die in dieser Form vorher noch nie stattgefunden hat und nur einzelne Stationen festgelegt sind. Danach erwarten Sie auf jedenfall folgende Höhepunkte:

* Expeditionsbesprechung bei den heißen Vulkanquellen von Papallacta

Aufenthalt in den Dschungelsiedlungen Coca in Ecuador und dem ohne jegliche Straßenverbindung, mitten im Dschungel eingeschlossenen Iquitos in Peru

Dschungeltour und Wanderungen mit Einheimischen im Primärregenwald zu Tierbeobachtungen, Erklärung von Medizinpflanzen usw.

Fahrten mit motorisiertem Expeditionsboot (ca. 5 - 7 Tage) und kleinen Einbäumen ohne Motor (paddeln - ca. 2 - 4 Tage) zu den völlig abgelegenen und nur schwer zu erreichenden Nationalparks Yasuni und Cuyabeno

Leben mit Kichwa und Secoya Indios in deren Dörfern, wo in deren Hütten gemeinsam gekocht und geschlafen wird (in Hängematten und/oder Expeditionsbetten - immer mit Moskitonetz, Zelte stehen für den Notfall bereit)

Fahrt mit einem kleinen Amazonas-Frachtschiff (ca. 2 - 4 Tage) auf dem Rio Napo oder einem seiner Seitenarme (unzählige Stops mit Be- und Entladen von Hühnern, Ziegen, Kühen, Bananen usw. mitten im Dschungel...)

* Schamanenzeremonie mit Möglichkeit Ayahuasca einzunehmen.

Contrast Getaway Adventures is a small team of travel-loving professionals and dedicated guides who work together to ensure that everyone who joins in on our adventures experiences the great thrill and freedom of travel whilst enjoying high levels of care and safety standards.

The company was founded in January 2001 by Liz Hine and Lars Krüger, both of whom have lived, worked and studied in Asia, Latin America and Southern Africa (and of course taken every possible opportunity to get out there and explore!). The first adventure we organised was a crossing from east to west of the Kalimantan region in Borneo, a combination of trekking through rainforest and mountain landscapes, and along the island`s many riverways, either camping out under the stars or staying in the tradtional guesthouses of the Dayak tribe. The trip is still up and running under the Trans Borneo Exploration! Since then, Contrast has gone from strength to strength, planning exciting new routes, stretching across the continents to East and Southern Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. New routes are always bubbling in the pipeline so watch this space for upcoming adventures…

Our company motto "beyond the horizon" illustrates what we strive to share with our guests - just getting out there and doing it - discovering new worlds and meeting people with refreshingly different world views. That´s why we choose to travel in smaller groups to encourage a friendly "team" atmosphere, to get to know each other and share our experiences. It is very important to us that we do not just travel with our eyes closed, but show respect and openness to other cultures, and to remember that things won´t always work in the way we expect them to! If you travel with a sense of humour, openess and team spirit, you can be guaranteed the trip of a lifetime, and of course our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides are always at hand to fill you in on all the background details and make sure the whole show runs smoothly!

We are sometimes asked why we chose the name "Contrast Getaway Adventures", and we agree it is a bit of a mouthful! As usual some strong teamwork came into play, having agreed that it should end with the word "adventure", we scratched our heads and pondered over how to convey what our company means to us and to our customers. In the end we put the words "contrast" and "getaway" together to define a strikingly different kind of trip, to touch, taste, and experience new worlds, instead of just sitting back and observing. However, to save time and breath friends and aficionados often just refer to us as "Contrast"!
