The Everest region is the most popular and well known area of Nepal . Some of the world's highest and most beautiful peaks, including Mt. Everest , Lhotse, Cho Oyu , Ama Dablam, and Nuptse. These peaks and many others are easily approached from the Khumbu. In the less frequented Solu region to the south, there are numerous impressive peaks, including the remote and beautiful Numbar/Khatang/Kerolung group.
The Solu Khumbu is also the home of the Sherpa people, whose warm hospitality and skills and mountain guides have made them world famous. Local monasteries are the centers of the Buddhist Lama culture, and religious festivals are colorful and numerous. Most Travel High Solu treks in the Solu Khumbu start with a 35 minute flight to Lukla, a small airstrip 2 days south of Namche Bazar, the most prominent village in Solu Khumbu. Other Travel High Solu treks will start from airstrips or trailheads at Jiri, Phaplu, or Tumlingtar.
