"Japan and Travel? Free Rivers Bicycle tour"
This is a 5 to 8 day bicycle tour that circumnavigates Oita Prefecture. Total distance is adjusted to groups abilities, but usually about 300 km.
It is unique, challenging, pristine, and fun! The roads are excellent, little traffic for the most part, and an endlessly variable terrain.
The five day/5 night tour costs $1400 per person and additional days cost $150 per day per person. This price includes all food, acomodations, transfers, entry fes, guide and train tickets where needed and asumes double occupancy.
Single room charge is very reasonable. It depends on the season. During Japan's peak season, single rooms are very difficult to find, and no amount of money will procure one. Non-peak times, most places don't charge any extra, neither do I. Extra charges will reflect the extra charge only.
Not included is your drinks, gifts and tips and bike rental. Bike rental is available at $250 for the tour, See more details below.
This isn't a self-guided tour, or a camping tour. There are accomodations every night, including all meals.
This guided Tour start's in the hot spring city of Beppu, and travels through Ajimu town, Kokonoe, to Kuju Volcano. Later, it takes us to Taketa and Naoiri, Yunohira, Yufuin and returns to Beppu. The longer version includes a loop over Mt. Sobo to Takachiho valley, and back up the Pacific ocean coast of eastern Oita.
Many variations are available, depending on you bike ambitions. Ask for options if you have a special idea for your vaction. It is what we are here for.

We use leg-power to cross the distance. That's why it is an eco-adventure!

We stay at a selection of lodges, Ryokan, farm-stays and hot spring villas. No tents. If you want to camp in tents, I am sure that is available somewhere. Just not here, sorry!
I don't cater to broke hippies. Not because they are hippies, but because they are broke.
High quality road bikes are available for rent at $250 for the entire tour. Beats packin' your ride in a box and luggin' it to Japan and back. Safer, too. Good quality late model cross bar hybrids and racers available.
