"14 Day 4x4 Mobile Safari - Makgadigadi Views"

Few places in Africa are as remote as the vast expanses of Botswana’s Makgadigadi Pans and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. In addition to game viewing, visitors can enjoy the remarkable scenery and the solitude. This landscape will take your breath away.
Places that we will visit include, Mokolodi Game Reserve, Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Lekhubu Island, Makgadigadi Pans, Nxai Pans, Baine’s Baobabs, Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Khutse Game Reserve.

Day 8 Deception Valley, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Johannesburg, South Africa. After arrival and transfer to our overnight destination we will go over the tour itinerary and vehicle familiarization.

Day 2: After an early breakfast and vehicle collection we head of on our tour to Botswana. Our first stop will be in Gaborone where we will stay over at ‘Mokolodi Game Reserve’. This will be an early stop to get you used to the driving and we will have time left to go for a late afternoon game drive and some sundowners by the lake.

Day 3: Today our expedition really begins. Taking the scenic, less travelled route to Serowe where we will set up camp at the ‘Khama Rhino Sanctuary’, a reserve set up for the protection of the White Rhino.

Day 4: The morning will start with an early game drive where we will have a chance to spot some Rhino and a range of antelope and birds. After a late breakfast we will head of to our next destination, Lekhubu Island, where we will stay over for the night

Day 5: After breakfast we will do a little exploring around the ‘Island’, home to some of the oldest ruins found in Botswana, and then head of across the spectacular and vast Makgadigadi Pans. Our destination will be at Gweta where we can enjoy sundowners after a long days driving and exploring.

Day 6: Another day of exploring and taking in the views of the Makgadigadi Pans. We will use the morning to drive around the Pans and head of to our overnight destination at ‘Nxai National Park’. Elephant roam freely in this area so the chances are good that we may encounter some of the big ones on our route. Our Campsite will be set up under one a big spectacular Baobab.

Day 7: We will use the day to explore the ‘Nxai National Park’ at leisure and take in the beauty of the area. The day will be finished of with sundowners at our campsite overlooking the pans.

Day 8: After breakfast we will head of to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and to our destination for the evening in Deception Valley. This area is well known for the large herds of antelope roaming the valleys and pans.

Day 9: The CKGR is vast and we have a lot to explore so we will head of early for a game drive that will last the whole day. Our overnight will again be in Deception Valley and within earshot of the roar of the Lions.

Day 10: After breakfast we will head of deep into the CKGR, an area only travelled by a few visitors each year. This is wild country and we may drive the whole day not seeing any other homo sapiens.

Day 11: Today will be a repeat of yesterday, travelling over the vast desolated areas of the CKGR. Our destination is Khutse Game Reserve, where our chances of a Lion encounter is almost assured.

Day 12: We will spend the day to explore Khutse and its many pans in search of Lion and Buffalo. The reserve is home to a range of antelope and birds, and a good place to spot Raptors and Lions.

Day 13: The morning we will relax around the camp site and looking for game before we head of for Gaborone where we will revisit Mokolodi Game Reserve.

Day 14: This is our last day on Safari and our last day together. We will do an early morning game drive and then head of to Johannesburg to drop of the vehicles and then spend the rest of the day at you stay over lodge having sundowners and exchanging stories of our trip before we say good bye.
